Cohuna is a town about 280km north of Melbourne. Situated on the shores of Gunbower Creek, which is part of the Murray River, it is home to 2,300 people.

History

Cohuna got its first post office in 1875. Back then the area was still called Mologa. The post office changed names several times before it became Cohuna for the final time in 1887.

Cohuna is a popular tourist destination and the “Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre“. There is always something to do. The area offers plenty of opportunities to fish, water ski, play tennis or go canoeing.

Cohuna is also a great place to start your exploration of the amazing wetlands. Visit nearby Gunbower Island, which is home to many kangaroos and emus, or just relax on the banks of Gunbower Creek. The creek follows the main street and the local garden park.
