Bouldercombe is a town and rural locality in the Rockhampton Region of Central Queensland. The town is located on the Burnett Highway and is 636km north-west of Brisbane’s central business district. It’s 22km south of Rockhampton’s central business district and has a population of 698.

History

The area started to develop in 1865 when gold was found at nearby Crocodile Creek. Within a year, over 2000 miners were living in the area. There was a dip in the population when the gold rush finished in 1876, but it peaked in 1897 when more gold was found nearby at Mt Usher. After the second gold rush, the area became known for its citrus growing until a brickworks was established in 1976.

It was initially known as Crocodile after the nearby creek.

The area is the gateway to the Bouldercombe Gorge Resources Reserve, including Bouldercombe Falls.
