Subiaco is a trendy suburb of Western Australia with a population of around 8,000. It is a 10-minute drive from the city of Perth and home to some beautiful houses.

History

The suburb of Subiaco was once lived-in by the Noongar tribe. In 1851, Italian Benedictine monks settled in the town. The monks named the area New Subiaco after an Italian town in the Sabine Mountains where Benedict of Nursia begun his work.

When the Perth-Fremantle railway opened, the monks dropped the word ‘New’ from the suburb’s name. In 1885, the land in the area was first developed by the government.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Subiaco has a mixed community of students, artists and professionals. It has great access to galleries, cafes, theatres and restaurants. You can also find pubs and clubs in this area of WA.

There is a festival in the town every year, which features live music, markets and street food. Subiaco hosts many free concerts and community events throughout the summer too.
