Riverton is a suburb that is located around 14km from Perth. It is part of the local government area of the City of Canning. It has a population of 4,666.

History

Riverton was formed in 1917 as a subdivision. In 1937, locals wanted to differentiate from Riverton in South Australia, and so they called it Riverton Bridge after the wooden bridge over the Canning River.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Adenia Road Park is a nice place to walk the dog or go for a stroll. It has natural bushland paths to walk along, a playground for children and some lookouts.

The Riverton Leisureplex has a number of amenities including a library. In terms of shopping, locals can find a lot of what they need at the Stockland Riverton shopping centre. People often still call it Riverton Forum, which was its original name.
