History

Ravenswood received its name after a same-titled property was developed there in the 1840s. Though settled for a long time, it was not officially recognised as an actual town until 1970.

The Ravenswood Hotel was built in 1863 as a homestead for Captain John Thomas. It only began operating as a hotel in 1907.
