  • Ship Australian wide
  • Gluten Free products Available
The D'Orsogna family has been making quality hams and continental salami products for more than 60 years.
D'Orsogna stands for quality, in terms of taste, product integrity, safe food and customer service. While our landmark WA premises have been our 'home' since 1973, D'Orsogna started in 1949 as a small family corner butcher shop in West Perth.

D'Orsogna salamis are well known for their authenticity and quality. The salamis are made from selected quality Australian meats and contain no fillers or additives. The products are seasoned with a blend of herbs and spices in the original recipes.

Hungarian is mild, lean salami made from quality meats with a very lightly smoked flavour. D'Orsogna Hungarian salami has a traditional European flavour and is a much sort after product. The usage of this product is extremely versatile ranging from sandwiches and pizzas to antipasto platters.

D'Orsogna has supplied a range of quality continental meats made to authentic and traditional family recipes since 1949. This versatile range of traditional European style products in both dry cured or cooked are ideal for entertaining or to compliment cooking dishes.

FAQs

  • What is the shelf life after opening a product?

We do not include a shelf life after opening on our packets as there are too many variables we cannot account for that may affect this. So long as the product is still in date and kept in a suitably hygienic refrigerator (we recommend below 5°C), we would expect that for at least 3 days after opening, the product will be safe to consume. The likelihood is that the product will last longer than this, we cannot guarantee any specific timeframe and instead leave this up to the customers discretion

  • I’m allergic to X, can you tell me what kind of “Natural Flavours” there are in your 100% Natural Line?

D’Orsogna’s Natural ham and bacon range uses a variety of Natural flavours derived from a blend of fruit and vegetable extracts, including celery and cherries.

  • What are the fruit and vegetable extracts in your Natural Lines?

The vegetable extract used is a proprietary blend that includes a celery powder that is used to preserve the product naturally. We do not use garlic nor onion powder. The fruit ingredient is also a proprietary blend that includes cherry extract.

  • If your Natural Bacon/Ham has “No Added Nitrates/Nitrites” then why don’t you label it as “Nitrate Free Bacon/Ham”?

As we use a celery extract to create the product, we cannot claim it is 100% Nitrate/Nitrite-free. Vegetables naturally contain Nitrates (NO3-), these are then converted to Nitrites (NO2-) in the product. Nitrates don’t do much, but Nitrites are reactive, and go on to form other compounds that preserve the product colour and taste as well as and deterring microbial growth. The same process (NO3àNO2) happens in the body when we eat vegetables!

  • Where can I find Natural Ham/Bacon?

All 100% Natural lines are currently stocked in Woolworths Nationally. If it is not available in your store, we highly recommend giving another local Woolworths store a call, as each store is at their own discretion to stock the product - it is not up to us. 100% Natural Bacon is also stocked in selected IGA stores in WA.

  • Are there any other flavourings in your Natural products?

The 100% Natural range does not use any artificial flavourings or additives such as MSG or Maltodextrin.

  • Where is your pork sourced from?

Depending on the availability of local pork, D’Orsogna purchases meat from Australian Government approved countries limited to Western Europe, Canada and the USA. Domestic suppliers are located in Western Australia as well as interstate. All of our suppliers must comply with strict Australian health and safety standards that are regulated by various government authorities as well as 3rd party auditors

  • Why does your product say it's only X% Australian, what are these ingredients comprised of?

Typically, this represents a minimum guarantee of Australian content inside the product, which includes meats and dry ingredients. We use a mixture of domestic and imported meats depending on meat availability and this reflects a worst case scenario.

  • But how the meat can be only partially Australian when it is comprised of a single cut of meat?

At a minimum, our added ingredients (salt, sugar, etc) are always Australian however the meat can be either domestic or imported due to availability. The low % is to account for this substitution.
