Home to almost 7000 people, Heathridge is a relatively new suburb. Its name comes from the heath-type plants that are common in the sandy ridges of the area.

History

Heathridge only started to develop in 1976. Prior to which it was a remote and undeveloped area. Land increasingly became available after Metropolitan Region Planning Authority rezoned the north and east of the suburb. It was rezoned in 1978 for urban development.

Heathridge belongs to the local government area of the City of Joondalup.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Heathridge has three primary schools and two high schools. The suburb is well serviced by railway and bus routes. There is also a local shopping centre.

Heathridge is home to the Sail Terrace Community Centre. The Community Centre has a range of sporting facilities. These include as indoor basketball courts, grassed level oval, and tennis courts. It also provides education rooms, and child minding facilities.
