History

Hamersley used to be a small-scale farming area including poultry and market gardening. At the end of the 1960s and during the 1970s the area was developed, and it became much more urban. Some areas of the suburb, however, still contain a lot of bushland.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Most of the houses in Hamersley are brick-built. The suburb also contains many parks, some of which have barbeques and play equipment for children making it a good place for families. There are also many facilities such as a sports hall and basketball courts, and an arts and crafts building. The Warwick Grove Shopping Centre to the north contains a wide variety of different shops covering everything from clothing and footwear to music and food.
