Glen Forrest is a small suburb in the Shire of Mundaring, near Perth. It has a population of more than 2,800 people.

History

The town, originally called Smiths Mill, was later named after the first Premier of Western Australia, Sir John Forrest.
Its boundary is the Great Eastern Highway, and it also lies on the original line of the Eastern Railway. The railway line is now a heritage one – the Railway Reserve Heritage Trail.

Early forestry and the Statham’s Brickworks were the first industries in the town.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Glen Forrest has two commercial centres offering amenities and services, retail outlets and restaurants.

There are a number of important conservation reserves in the area offering outdoor pursuits. The Glen Forrest Super Block is one of them.
