Denmark is a bustling town 423 kilometres south-south-east of Perth. It is situated on Wilson Inlet in the Great Southern region of Western Australia and has a population of around 2,200.
History
The Denmark River was named in 1829 by a man called Thomas Braidwood Wilson. He named it after his mentor, naval surgeon Alexander Denmark. In 1895, C & E Millar purchased 20,000 acres of freehold timber country at Denmark River. It was known as the Denmark Estate.
In 1895, a railway extension from Torbay to Denmark River was built. A post office and bank opened in 1897. By 1900, 2000 people lived in Denmark.

Denmark is home to lots of wineries and vineyards. The town has a choice of schools and sporting facilities. There is a medical centre, hospital and dentist in the town too.
