Based in Western Australia, Currambine is a suburb in Perth’s north. It lies 30km north of Perth’s Central Business District. It falls under the City of Joondalup. According to the 2011 census, it has a population of over 6,700 people. Currambine neighbours Connolly, Kinross, and Iluka.

History

Established in the 1980s, Currambine is a young suburb. It takes its name from the aboriginal word meaning “heaps of rocks”. The City of Wanneroo chose the name from a book by A.W. Reed.

From the mid-1990s, the area few as a residential suburb. Currambine train station opened in 1993.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

This residential suburb is popular with families. Residents go shopping at the Currambine Market Place shopping centre.

Joondalup Golf Course sits in the south-eastern section of the suburb. This 27-hole course is popular with local golfers.
