Based in Western Australia, Como is a suburb in Perth. It lies in the federal division of Swan. According to the 2006 census, Como has a population of over 12,400 people. The Canning Highway runs through the suburb.

History

In 1891, a Christchurch farmer named Edmund Hugh Comer bought three land grants. These land grants would later become Como. In 1905, the last was subdivided and the suburb was established.

The origin of the suburb’s name is unknown. Historians suspect it either comes from Comer’s surname, or from Como in northern Italy.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

These days, Como is a quiet suburb near the city and river. That said, locals have complained about the aircraft noise.

There are four schools in Como. These include Como Primary School, Como Secondary School, and Penrhos College.

This leafy suburb has good public transport links and lots of restaurants.
