Clarkson is an up and coming suburb of Perth in Western Australia. It is located 34 kilometres north of the city and has a population of over 11,600.

History

The area of Clarkson takes its name from the Clarkson family. They were a family of sheep farmers who lived in the town since the 19th century. Barnard Drummond Clarkson is listed as the first lasting European settler in Clarkson. You can find the ruins of the family home in Riverlinks Park.

In 1952, John Clarkson sold the leases for the land his family once used. The land wasn’t developed until the early-90s. Clarkson continued to be built throughout the 2000s.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Clarkson is home to a very large shopping and retail area. There is a great strip of restaurants and takeaways by the shopping centre, which features a Hungry Jack’s, KFC and Sushi Noodle World. Other restaurants can be found dotted around.

The suburb boasts over 10 parks including Richard Aldersea Park and Anthony Waring Park. In addition to great open spaces, Clarkson has a youth centre with a skatepark and BMX tracks.
