Carine is a northern suburb that is situated 14km from the Perth central business district. It is part of the local government area of the City of Stirling. It has a population of 6,480.

History

Carine took its name from a geographical feature in the area: two swamps called Big Carine Swamp and Small Carine Swamp. Not much development occurred here until the 1960s. Instead, the land was used for market gardens, timber reserves and some farming.

Carine is a suburban area. Residents go to the Carine Glades shopping centre for their basic needs. There are also two other shopping centres in the area that provide more services.

Wildlife lovers will be interested in the Carine Regional Open Space. This is located on the swamps, and it has turtles, waterbirds and more.
