FAQs
We can help you at your first appointment. You can get all of the information you need at this point to decide what your next step will be. You will receive specific legal advice about your unique family law matter, wills & probate and Family Provision (Inheritance) Act cases for an initial fixed cost. We will talk to you about the likely outcome of your case, the estimated costs and the time it may take to finish it. Our estimates are based on our real life experiences with clients living and working South of the River for the past 24 years.
Your first appointment with us generally takes about 1 hour. We find that clients are very pleased with the advice that they receive at this point. Some people find that this first appointment provides enough information for them to continue to resolve their matter directly with the other person. In other cases people will ask us to act on their behalf. We are content for our clients to take either option. We find that parts of Family Court procedure are not contained in guides or by thorough (but non-professional) internet research.
Friends are often not a good guide for legal advice. Be very cautious about accepting advice because someone has been through it themselves. Their experience is likely to be with a different set of facts and different parties involved. The outcome of your matter depends upon your own unique circumstances. Self represented parties often do not realise what is happening in their case from a legal viewpoint. The important information about how your case is to be dealt with, is only gained through professional experience in appearing regularly in Court.
