Yarraville is a central suburb of Melbourne. It is located 6km to the west of the Central Business District. According to the 2011 census, it has a population of 13,747.

History

Yarraville used to be populated by working class families. However the nature of the suburb has changed over the years, and more affluent people live here now.

One section of the suburb, called Yarraville Village, has many examples of 19th century buildings that are in good repair.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Yarraville Village has many independent shops and excellent cafes and restaurants. You can find all sorts of food here from modern Australian to Greek and Chinese.

On the first weekend of each month. there is a market. All produce you can buy here is made in Australia and/or made by hand.

The Yarraville Festival happens once a year. It has exhibitions and parades as well as stalls where you can buy things. Over 25,000 people come to visit it.
