The suburb of White Hills in the City of Bendigo is home to the Bendigo racecourse. The Weeroona College Bendigo located in the area is a co-educational school for year 7 to 10 pupils. The population of White Hills is over 3,200 people.

History

The Post Office in the suburb was opened in 1857 on August 21st and the area grew in size during the gold rush of that period. There was a large influx of optimistic diggers into White Hills during this time and many of these were Chinese. The area has one of the best examples of a mid-nineteenth century gold field cemetery with traditional Chinese architecture.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

There is a botanical garden, Holiday Park, and a racecourse in the suburb along with the White Hills Primary School and several fast food franchises. The area is also home of the White Hills Footy Oval and Stadium Arena. There are also some specialist shops including candles, designer cakes, and collectables.
