History

Wallan used to be a tiny village. Over the years it has grown, and now has a big residential area with a golf course located 1km away. Wallan played an important role in the Black Saturday Fires of 2009. People from other towns in the area came here for assistance.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Wallan is a commuter town. Families on low salaries can find cheap land here while still going to the city to work. The town does have some green spaces, but in general there are not a lot of parks. Some measures have been taken to improve this in recent years such as wetland revegetation.

Travel to and from Wallan is fairly easy. There is a good train link, and during peak times you can take a bus from the town to the station. This is convenient for people commuting to work.
