Sunbury is a quiet suburb of Victoria 40 kilometres north-west of Melbourne’s central business district. It has a population of around 33,000 and everything close by for a comfortable lifestyle.

History

The area of Sunbury still has a few Aboriginal sites. The five earth rings used to be used for ceremonial gatherings. It was in 1836 when two men called George Evans and William Jackson settled in the suburb. In 1857, William Jackson and his brother, Samuel named the town after Sunbury-on-Thames in Middlesex, England.

Sunbury was once home to a powerful man called Big Clarke. He was one of the biggest squatters in the area and had an important position within the Victorian Legislative Council.

When it comes to shopping, Sunbury has supermarkets and lots of clothing stores. It has plenty of great restaurants and a cinema too. There are some excellent schools and medical centres in the suburb, as well as a hospital.

Pretty parks and good public transport links can be found in the town. Sunbury is a peaceful area that is not too far away from the city.
