With a population of over 14,700, the City of Sale is located in the Gippsland region of Victoria. Over the past decade, the area has undergone extensive development and investment. One of the main areas of the city to benefit has been the Port of Sale.

History

The first town plots were sold in 1850 and the settlement was officially gazetted in 1851 as Sale in tribute to General Sir Robert Sale. The rather timely birth of the new settlement, along with its location on the Port Albert to Omeo route, coincided very favourably with the 1981 gold rush at Omeo.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The city is packed with famous landmarks and has been visited by many notable people over the years. The region has two major shopping centres and is connected by good transport links via the Princes Highway and the V/line rail service.

The area has a number of primary and secondary schools including a grammar school and 2 other colleges. Lakes, canals, and an Air Force museum ensure that residents and visitors to Sale will never run out of places to visit.
