Rosedale is a small rural village in Victoria, part of the Wellington Shire. It is situated 184km east of Melbourne, south of the Latrobe River. About 1,600 people live in Rosedale.

History

A man called Blind Joe is said to have been the first European to settle in the area. He lived in a hut on the Latrobe River. The earliest sale of land blocks in the town was held here, in mid-1855.

In 1843, Rosedale was named after Rosalie, the wife of David Parry-Okedon, who owned a site in the area.

Rosedale can be thought of as the rural version of Melbourne. The town is brimming with cafes, bakeries, fresh local produce and antique shops. The local history can be seen throughout the area. Take a stroll through the Heritage Walk from Willow Park Reserve and check out the Mechanics Institute and St Mark’s Church.
