History

The plains around Rockbank were first cultivated by William Cross Yuille. The land contains many large rocks, making it unsuitable for crop farming. However, the rich volcanic soil is perfect for wineries.

Rockbank has one of the region’s oldest post offices. The Rockbank Post Office opened in January 1862.
