Reservoir is a cool inner city suburb of Victoria 12 kilometres north of Melbourne’s central business district. It has an estimated population of 47,500 and lots of period homes.

History

The area of Reservoir was first surveyed by a man called Robert Hoddle in 1837. It wasn’t until 1863 when it became a suburb. The name comes from the three water reservoirs known as Preston Reservoir.

A man called Thomas Dyer Edwardes gave 34 acres of land to the people of the former city of Preston in 1914. The land later became Edwardes Park.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Reservoir is close to Preston Market and the Northland Shopping Centre. There are lots of shops and restaurants in the area, as well as a nearby drive-in cinema. It also provides locals with tram, train and bus services.

In addition to essential amenities, Reservoir is home to some good schools and sports clubs. It’s thought of as a multicultural suburb with people from all walks of life.
