Based in Victoria, Loch Sport is a coastal town that is popular with tourists. It sits on the Ninety Mile Beach and Lake Victoria in Central Gippsland. Loch Sport has a population of over 680, however this number increases to 4,000 during the holidays.

History

The Tatungalung tribe are the original inhabitants of Loch Sport. They would use the area for hunting and fish, or collecting water yams and vegetables. You can still see Aboriginal middens in the town.

European settlers arrived in Loch Sport in the 19th century and began to farm the land. During the 1860s, the shipping industry arose in the lakes.

Loch Sport is popular with tourists who love water sports. Activities like water skiing, sailing, swimming, fishing, boating and kayaking are common. For nature enthusiasts, the Lakes National Park is a haven for native flora and fauna. If you are lucky, you may see kangaroos, emus, echidnas, and koalas.
