History

Originally the area occupied by this suburb was called Kensington. The Kensington post office, which was established in 1858, changed names several times before becoming the Leopold post office in 1885. Leopold has several heritage-listed sites.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Leopold is a residential area. It has a number of educational establishments including a preschool and a primary school. An Australian rules football team called the Lions is based in Leopold. They take part in the Geelong Football League.

If you fancy a walk or getting out on your bike, you can access the Bellarine Rail Trail in Leopold. This track goes along the old South Geelong to Queenscliff branch line.
