History
Lakes Entrance was originally named Cunninghame. It was renamed to its current name on 1 January 1915.
Lifestyle and Entertainment
Lakes Entrance is largely a fishing and tourism town. It is a popular spot for camping and caravanning.
There is one main surf beach in town. It is patrolled by the Lakes Entrance Surf Club. Ferrymans Seafood Cafe and The Floating Dragon Dockside Restaurant are two popular waterfront restaurants.
The main street consists of several shops including a Safeway and Target. A McDonald’s outlet opened in September 1997. Most residents live further inland away from the water.
