Keysborough is a family-friendly suburb of Victoria with a current population of around 22,800. It is located 27 kilometres south-west of Melbourne’s central business district and has lots of parks and reserves.

History

A man called George Keys used to farm the area now known as Keysborough from 1844. His family helped to open a church in the area in 1861. After the war, a public hall was built in Cheltenham Road. There were about 250 families living in Keysborough by 1973.

The town of Keysborough started to grow as a large residential and industrial suburb in the 1960s. A post office opened in 1973. It was called Noble Park South until 1978.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Keysborough is home to a few primary and secondary schools including Lighthouse Christian College. It has the Parkmore Shopping Centre on the doorstep, which features a Woolworths, Coles and specialty stores.

The town is serviced by buses. Keysborough also boasts several parks and sporting clubs. Edithvale Beach and Springvale are just a short distance away.
