Hoppers Crossing is a urban fringe suburb of Melbourne, located 23km south-west of Melbourne’s central business district. Hoppers Crossing extends northwards from the Princes Highway to the emerging suburbs of Tarneit and Truganina.

In 1963 the first subdivision of residential land at Hopper’s Crossing occurred, and substantial housing development continued throughout the 1970s. The first local shopping centre was Woodville Park and the first local primary school was Mossfield which was built in 1970. In 1981 the Hoppers Crossing Shopping Centre was opened as strong growth continued through the area.

Werribee Plaza opened in the late 1980s. It was modernised between 2000 and 2006 with several significant redesigns and extensions. The Plaza now includes retailers such as major department stores and supermarkets, specialty electrical and homewares retailers, a Cinema Complex, Best and Less and many more. The Victorian State Government has announced plans of a $300 million upgrade to the shopping centre, which will more than double the plaza’s retail space.
