FAQs

  • Which areas do you service?

We service Echuca/Moama and surrounding areas.

  • Do you offer free quotes?

    Yes, we offer free quotes.

  • Is your team well skilled, equipped and experienced?

Yes, our team is well skilled and experienced in all facets of the electrical field. We are constantly learning and keeping up to date with new technology as it emerges. Electricity is dangerous so we aim at safely carrying out all works as 1st priority. We also supply a certificate of compliance for all completed electrical work.

  • What is a safety switch? How does it work at home and do I need to have one installed at my place? What is the sole purpose of a safety switch?

A safety switch (Residual Current Device) measures the current sent out by the active wire versus the current returned through the neutral wire. This is very important because this will detect if any appliance or cable that is part of the installation has become unsafe and is a risk to operate. The safety switch will automatically trip and indicate that this device has an in balance and in turn, protect anyone who may come into contact with the device or installation. Safety switches save lives.

  • Why you should use a licensed/qualified electrician and what are the consequences if you don't use a licensed electrician?

The electrical trade is dangerous, as we cannot see, hear or smell it. As licensed electricians are trained to work safely and take all the precautions necessary to keep you safe in your home as well as us being able to return home safely every day. Safety is the number one reason for using a licensed/qualified electrician but another is that you may be in trouble with insurance if they find out the work was carried out by an unqualified electrician without certifying the work carried out.

  • Is it worth changing my halogen down lights over to LED down lights? What's involved and is it a lengthy process? Are there any additional benefits from doing so?

LEDs are the future of lighting as they last much longer than conventional lighting and they also consume a lot less electricity. If you have halogen down lights, the main reason to change over would be safety as they are a fire hazard but secondly you will save money on your electricity bill. Most new LEDs are 10 watts & they are as bright as 50 watts of halogen so they consume 1/5 of the electricity. It usually takes us around 10 minutes per light to change over if they are the same cutout.

  • How long does it take to have a home safety inspection carried out? Do I need it done?

It takes anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on the size of the property. When we carry out safety inspections, we are looking to better the electrical safety of your home. Some of the things we look for are outdated switchboards, faulty switches, lose or broken power points, light fittings which may be coming away from the fixing & in general any danger we find electrically. Once complete, we will also advise on the best steps to take to eliminate the problem or preventing a problem.

  • If my wiring is okay but I suspect my switchboard is outdated. Do I need to replace it?

Old style switchboards are dangerous as they were installed at a time where the electrical demand in a house was not such an issue. These days, we have much more electrical components & appliances in our house & we end up using power boards and adapters to install more and more. Some of these old switchboards are not rated correctly and allow more power than permitted to pass through the cable without tripping. The new style switchboards are designed to trip much faster, protecting the cable.
