Restumping of a house involves the rectification of the foundations of a house that are built on stumps. The process is undertaken when the existing stumps are rotting or have cracked. The contractor will jack up the house and replace the old stumps, which are typically timber, with new stumps, which are usually made of concrete for longer lasting durability.
Restumping Is Often Required When The Following Conditions Are Noticed:
Underpinning involves rectification of the foundation of a brick veneer house that is built on a concrete slab. It is often required where one is adding stories or where slabs have cracked or moved over time. To rectify this, considerable digging around the area is required, the exiting slab is then supported by jacks and concrete is poured underneath to provide fresh support.
