The suburb of Clyde is situated 48km south-east of Melbourne’s central business district. It is located in the local government area of the City of Casey. The area has a population of fewer than 800 people.

History

The Post office in Clyde opened on the Berwick-Cranbourne Road on January 25th, 1864. It was later renamed Clyde North in 1915. The railway station opened in 1888 and that too was renamed, Clyde. Originally located on the South Gippsland Railway corridor, the station was closed around 1993 and replaced with a bus service.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The area has a primary school, fire station, community hall, shops, and a sports oval. The Oval is the home of the Clyde Cricket Club that takes part in the West Gippsland Cricket Association. Since the closure of the railways, transport is provided by buses and road links to the major highways network.
