Berwick is a suburb of Victoria 41 kilometres south-west from the centre of Melbourne. It has a population of around 44,700 and is one of the largest towns in the region.

History

The suburb of Berwick was once part of the Cardinia Creek. It was separated from the area in 1854 when lots of new businesses opened. Berwick became known for dairy farming and cheesemaking.

A coach road was built between Melbourne and the Gippsland region in the 1850s. After the First World War, poplar trees were planted along the high street and on Beaconsfield Road to remember fallen soldiers.

Berwick is a leafy town with many shops and businesses. There is also a great selection of restaurants and cafes in the area. The local train station and bus network is useful for getting in and out of the suburb.

It is close to primary and secondary schools, as well as 2 hospitals. There are also plenty of parks and lakes. Berwick offers a village atmosphere in a booming environment.
