Bentleigh East is a suburb in Victoria that is 14 kilometres from Melbourne’s central business district. It has a population of over 25,900.

History

The area is named after the Victorian politician, Thomas Bent. The first post office in Bentleigh East opened in 1928 and closed in 1995. However, the Bentleigh East Delivery Centre remains open today.

Even though the police station closed in the 1990s, the building can still be found on the corner of Omeo Court and East Boundary Road.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Bentleigh East is home to the Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre. The suburb also has the Monash Medical Centre and The Yarra Yarra Golf Club.

There are plenty of schools in the area including both primary and secondary.
