History
Gold flooded into Beechworth during the 1850s rush. Fossickers followed: from the United States, United Kingdom and China. The town became very wealthy.
Bushranger Ned Kelly camped out around the area. He fought a famous boxing match against Wild Wright at a local pub. He also spent a night in the Beechworth Prison.
