History

In the past, the Kulin Nation have used the area around Alphington for collecting fresh water and fishing. It was rich in resources for the Wurundjeri people. The town is named after Alphington in Devon, England by Sir William Manning. Dairy farms attracted Chinese goldfield workers in the mid 1800s. Now the town has a young, professional population.

Pitcher Park is home to Alphington’s own Parkside Football Club. The town is also home to a number of green spaces. These include Alphington Park and Darebin Parklands. The Darebin Enterprise Centre has events all year round.
