The suburb of Summerhill is situated about 3km west of Launceston’s central business district. It is mostly a residential area and it has one school, the Summerdale Primary School. It is within the City of Launceston local government area and has a population of over 7,000 people.

History

The area was traditionally a farming community that has grown over the years into a pleasant residential area. It is popular with commuters who work in Launceston but prefer to live away from the hustle and bustle of the City. Much of the housing in the area was built in during the last few decades.

Due to being so closely located to the City of Launceston, Summerhill’s residents are able to take full advantage of the bars, cafes, restaurants, and nightlife that are on offer there. Thanks to excellent transport links and access to the major road network, you are never too far away from all of the amenities.
