Prospect Vale is a small residential suburb in Launceston, Tasmania. It’s 5km from the Launceston central business district and has a population of 5,021.

History

The suburb is fairly new, having been built in the late 1900’s.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The area has two schools – Prospect High School and St. Patricks College. It also has a small shopping centre called Prospect Vale Marketplace. It has a supermarket and several privately owned businesses. There is a small industrial area within the suburb. Prospect Vale has two sporting grounds. The major one is St. Patrick’s Old Collegians Football Club Oval. Its home team competes in the Northern Tasmania Football Association.

The main attraction for tourists is the Country Club Casino. It has a range of restaurants, bars and gaming machines. Accommodation is available at the casino. Concerts and shows often take place there as well.
