The suburb of Hobart lies just six kilometres from the city’s CBD. Lindisfarne has a population of over 5,500 people.

History

The town used to be called Beltana before being renamed Lindisfarne in 1903. It was named after a small island known as The Holy Island in Northumberland, England.

Part of the town is still referred to as Beltana.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The town’s position on the water of the Derwent River means there are a lot of opportunities to get out and enjoy it. Lindisfarne has a number of rowing and sailing clubs, as well as the Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania.

Land based opportunities are based a large park in the town. Football, cricket, tennis and bowls are all available.
