As a general rule, you should clean your air conditioner filters within the indoor unit every month. In more dusty or polluted environments you should clean your filters more regularly. Cleaning your filters is the most important maintenance task you can do to care for your air conditioner.
Manufacturers in the heating and air conditioning industry recommend maintenance servicing to be done around every 12 Months. However, this may vary depending on the usage, and for commercial buildings who may have specific obligations with maintenance.
When it comes to efficiently heating and cooling your home, Bigger is not always better. We know that under sizing a heat pump will cause the system to continuously cycle, costing more in running costs and generally not heating efficiently. However, when we over size a heat pump, we have the opposite issue of the system running in overdrive, causing it to constantly short cycle, which again will increase running costs, and decrease the efficiency of the system.
The most common question we get asked is weather turning the heat pump on and off is more efficient than running it 24/7.
Heat pumps can stop working for a number reasons, one thing we will always suggest is giving the system a full re-set in the meter box before proceeding further.
