FAQs

  • I put new bulbs in my recessed lights and they turn on, stay on for a while, and then go back out. After a while, they will come back on again. What's going on?

Recessed lights are supplied with a thermal overload. Because the fixture is inside your ceiling, it is important that excessive heat from the bulbs does not cause a fire. Because of this, the thermal overload acts as a thermometer i.e. when the heat reaches a pre-set temperature, it will disconnect the electricity. When the fixture cools down, the electricity is reconnected. To avoid this problem, lower wattage lamps will generate less heat, try changing them.

  • What is an RCD and how does it work?

An RCD is a safety device that monitors the electrical current flowing within a circuit from the meter box or distribution board. It works on the principle that the electricity current flowing in must be equal to the current flowing out of the circuit. If the RCD detects an imbalance in the electrical current, indicating a leakage to earth, e.g. current flows through someone's body to earth, the RCD immediately cuts the electricity supply to prevent electrocution.

  • Do you offer electrical inspections?

Yes. Our technician can complete a thorough inspection of your property for both maintenance and potential safety issues. One of our trademarks is that our technicians perform a courtesy inspection on all your fixtures to see if there are any little free adjustments they can do.

  • How do I know when there is an electrical fault in my house?

If you think you have an electrical fault in your home or office, it is probably a good idea to call us immediately. A broken socket, surging/flickering lights, or an activated safety switch is your indication of potential danger. Don't overlook an electrical fault or inaccurately blame the issue on a particular device. Trust only an experienced and licensed electrician to accurately diagnose your electrical system and repair the fault.

  • How do I reset my safety switch?

First, you must unplug all of your appliances and switch off the circuit breakers. You may then go and reset your safety switch.

  • Do I need an isolator on my hotplates?

Yes, new installations and most hot plate manufacturers recommend this.

  • Are your staff all qualified electricians and apprentices?

Yes, our staff are all qualified electrical trade professionals and electrical apprentices.

  • Do you offer free professional electrical advice?

Yes, we are happy to offer free professional advice to our customers in relation to electrical issues.

  • Do you do commerical as well as residential work?

Yes, we do commercial and residential work.

  • Do you do accept insurance claims?

Yes, we do accept insurance claims.
