Based in Tasmania, Berriedale is a suburb in Hobart’s northern suburbs. It sits between Chigwell and Rosetta, and lies in the City of Glenorchy. According to the 2011 census, Berriedale has a population of over 2,700 people.

History

Berriedale was built around a coach stop on the route from Hobart to Collins Creek and Bismark. In 1834, William Wilson opened the Berriedale Inn.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

There is much to see in Berriedale. Wine-lovers can go and visit Moorilla Estate. This is the first vineyard to plant pinot noir grapes. The vineyard regularly hosts concerts and cellar-door tastings.

If you’re a fan of chocolate, then you can’t miss the Cadbury Schweppes Chocolate Factory. Five minutes away from Berriedale, the factory offers free samples on their tours.

If you like trainspotting, a short drive to Glenorchy takes you to the Tasmanian Transport Museum. Here, you can see vintage trains and trams.
