History

A family called Johnston wanted to grow their brewery business, and so they established Woodside in the 1850s. Between 1918 and 1953 the Mt Pleasant railway line provided a service for Woodside.

There are many different places to visit in Woodside including the Heritage Park, and an old dairy factory. If you have a sweet tooth, you may also like Melba’s Chocolate Factory. If you like a bargain, there are a number of second-hand shops to browse. Woodside also has galleries and plenty of places to eat. Once a month a country market comes to the town.
