The suburb of Adelaide has a population of 4,500 people. It is south-west of the CBD and has excellent transport links to the rest of the city and beyond.

History

The name Warradale was created when residents of the town, then called Oaklands, tried to apply for a post office. The authorities turned it down because of an Oaklands on the Yorke Peninsula, and in NSW.

So the name Warradale was invented in 1917. It derives from the Aboriginal word for timber, which used to cover the landscape.
The Post Master General’s department, which formed in 1901, was responsible for postal and telegraphic services. It accepted Warradale and the name remains today.

The town has a train station and several main roads linking it to the city. There are a number of schools in the area, retail outlets and commercial centres.
