History

The local indigenous peoples are those belonging to the Kaurna tribe. The tribe used fire-stick farming, which involves lighting bushfires to aid hunting.

In the mid-1800s Unley gained its first migrant settlers. These came mainly from the United Kingdom and Ireland. Today, the suburb is home to a large number of Greek Australians.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Unley is right beside the Adelaide Park Lands. These surround the centre of Adelaide. The Park Lands are on the Australian National Heritage List. The Sturt Football Club, which is a part of the South Australian National Football League, calls Unley home. The suburb boasts the Unley Museum, which used to be a fire station. It contains information about local history, as well as displaying new exhibits.
