History

The suburb of Torrens Park is named after a man called Sir Robert Torrens. He was the third Premier of South Australia. Torrens Park was once home to Torrens Park Estate, which was the house of Sir Robert Torrens. It’s now part of the campus of Scotch College.

Torrens Park first opened a post office in 1953. It closed in 1972.

The area is well-serviced by public transport and offers buses and trains into the city. Torrens Park has lots of shops and supermarkets within easy reach.

Scotch College is the only school in the town, but there are many nearby schools including Clapham, Mitcham, Unley and Mercedes College.
