Seaton is a suburb in Adelaide, near Findon, West Lakes, and Grange in the western suburbs. 9km from Adelaide, it has a population of around 10,000.

History

The area was largely rural prior to World War 2 and had market gardens, poultry farms, and Lucerne paddocks. It was bounded to the west by sand dunes.

The South Australian Housing Trust created large areas of low-cost housing for workers in Seaton and the nearby suburbs after the rapid development of industry during and after the wars.

On September 1, 1965, Seaton Post Office opened and was renamed from Seaton Park. In 1991, it was closed and was replaced by the second post office in the suburb, which was renamed from Seaton North.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Seaton is home to the Royal Adelaide Golf Club, a private golf club. There are two schools located in the suburb and it is known for its football team, the Seaton Ramblers.
