History

Royal Park was established in the 1880s. Royal Park used to be referred to as Piggery Park. This is because there was a strong smell of slaughter houses in the area. Royal Park also had many sand dunes, but the sand mining industry caused them to disappear.

Lots of European migrants moved to Royal Park after the Second World War. Land was cheap, and these people bought houses close to where they worked.
