Reynella is a central suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is 20km south of the city’s central business district and home to 4,461 people.

History

The area around Reynella was visited by a group of European explorers in the 19th century. They named it Hurtle Vale after the group’s Commissioner. Later, John Reynell became one of the first settlers there and planted the first vineyard of the area. He also lent his name to the area, hence Reynella.

In the 20th Century, the area was prosperous due to farming and wine production. The region known as Reynella was later split into three parts, one of them still named Reynella.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

In the south, Reynella is bordered by Sherriffs Road, which has a number of shops along it. A crossing in Reynella has become known as the “Fast Food Junction” to locals as it has four major fast food chains on it.

Reynella also features a beautiful park called the Robertson Street Reserve.
