Paradise is a suburb in the north-east of Adelaide. It is located in the City of Campbelltown government area. It is home to 6,557 people according to the 2011 census.

History

The suburb was first named Shepley. This was changed by Joseph Ind, a local orchard owner, and named for his Paradise Bridge Hotel. The fruit produced by the Ind Orchards was of such a high quality that the area was described as a ‘paradise’ for fruit growers.

Further members of the Ind family arrived in Paradise throughout the 1800s. The family’s names can still be found on street names in the suburb. A post office opened in Paradise in 1877.

Paradise is a quiet suburb. It has excellent transport options provided by the nearby O-Bahn. It has many learning centres, including three primary schools and a high school. There is also an early childhood learning centre in Paradise.
