History
The capital city of Adelaide was surveyed in 1837, land that lay to the north of the River Torrens became North Adelaide.
North Adelaide Parklands houses many public gardens, sports arenas, and a golf-course. At its centre lies O’Connell which links the suburb to the main city. As well as a large number of shops and retail outlets, it has many heritage buildings now home to bustling cafes and restaurants.
One of the oldest schools in Australia, the North Adelaide Primary School, was established in 1877.

Nowadays the area has very close links to the main city centre. The town’s restaurant and café culture thrives in old buildings now listed as important heritage sites.
